Upon entering the main entrance of the Library and Learning centre (LLC) one is greeted by an open and spacious atrium that stretches high until the third floor. The connecting stairs, ramps and balconies seem to be woven into each other coming from different angels and directions. The white color palette gives it a fragile and at the same time colossal, majestic feel.
Details like doorknobs, windows, and signage are in harmony with the whole design concept and complete the impression of perfection.

The LLC belongs to the Economic and Business Campus of the University of Vienna, Austria. The five story building with two basement floors is part of a 492 million Euro project completed in 2013 after a construction period of four years.

The architect and designer, Zaha Hadid (1950- 2016), has received numerous prestigious awards and prices in her long and successful career and has been made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
While reading about her, one description comes up again and again, “she is pushing boundaries”. And indeed, her buildings seem to float and curve in gracious, generous waves paired with a meticulous attention to detail.
It has been a revelation to experience and photograph one of her unique creations.
And there are so many more structures still to be discovered in the US, Italy, Mexico, Great Britain, and many other countries around the world.
